2017 Arts medallion: Carl & Yurie Pascarella

  • Palace Hotel 2 New Montgomery S San Francisco, CA United States (map)

The Board of the Museum of Performance + Design takes great pleasure in announcing that Carl and Yurie Pascarella will be presented with the 2017 San Francisco Arts Medallion for their outstanding leadership in the arts on May 2 2017 at the Palace Hotel, Gold Ballrom, in San Francisco. The San Francisco Arts Medallion was created in 2005 by the Museum of Performance + Design to recognize those individuals whose leadership, actions, and generosity have benefited the cultural life of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Carl and Yurie Pascarella share a passion for the arts, and for more than two decades this passion has translated in outstanding leadership in the city of San Francisco and beyond. The couple’s remarkable generosity have made them the champions of some of our most respected arts institutions, including the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco Symphony, SFMOMA, Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, and San Francisco Ballet, of which Carl is the current Chair of the Board. He, the grandson of an Italian emigre, and she, a native of Tokyo, uphold an artistic commitment that also reaches internationally, maintaining key affiliations with celebrated arts institutions in France.

Past Arts Medallion Honorees include Stanlee Gatti (2005), Gordon Getty (2006), Diane B. Wilsey (2007), Mr. & Mrs. George F. Jewett, Jr. (2008), Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. (2009), Nancy Hellman Bechtle (2010), Delia F. Ehrlich (2011), Roselyne C. Swig (2012), John Goldman (2013), Frederica von Stade (2015), and Robert Anderson & Nion Mc Evoy (2016).
