Celebrating Vaslav Nijinsky

Considered the premier danseur of the 20th century, Vaslav Nijinsky (1889-1950) left an indelible mark on the ballet world, both as a ballet dancer and choreographer. Nijinsky's short, but dynamic career left audiences in near equal measure of shock and awe. In conjunction with San Francisco Ballet's presentation of John Neumeier's Nijinsky performed by the National Ballet of Canada, the Museum of Performance + Design will celebrate the 110th anniversary of the launch of Nijinsky's career with a special display in the Reading Room at our new location. The display will feature a rare, original photograph of Nijinsky by Baron de Meyer, an original pastel drawing of Nijinsky by his daughter Kyra, and other related materials from MP+D's collection. The display will be up from April 3-May 25, 2018 with free admission. The Museum will be open Tuesdays-Fridays from 1pm-6pm and on Saturday May 5th from 1pm-5pm.
